The 24th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Armenia was marked in St. Blaise (Surp Vlas) Armenian Church on
September 21. “Armenpress” reports, referring to Vatican Radio, that Armenia Independence anniversary was marked under the
auspices of the Embassy of Armenia in Vatican. The solemn ceremony started with a mass celebrated by Leonardo Sandri, Prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches. The event was attended by the representatives of other Diplomatic Missions Accredited in Vatican, clergy, as well as Armenian and foreign religious people.
Leonardo Sandri spoke about divine mercy on the Armenians as they were granted the gift of adopting Christianity.
Cardinal Leonardo Sandri also thanked all those who had contributed to the development of relations between Armenia and Vatican.
