Chebarkul meteorite ice hole detected by satellite
Russian scientists have disclosed that the six-meter ice hole in Lake Chebarkul that is believed to have swallowed the biggest fragment of last month’s Chelyabinsk meteorite was detected by the Pleiades IA earth surveillance satellite of the European Space Agency.
The meteorite’s explosion above Chelyabinsk on February 15th blew out tens of thousands of window panes and left some 1,500 people injured by broken glass.
